509th SSB’s Digital Leap Improves Army Asset Tracking
VICENZA, Italy — The 509th Strategic Signal Battalion, 2d Theater Signal Brigade, is modernizing equipment management across Southern Europe and the Balkans by piloting ParaLine, a progressive web application designed to streamline property accountability.
To increase efficiency and unit readiness, the 509th SSB began looking for ways to digitize and modernize its logistics processes in early 2026.
A small team led by U.S. Army Capt. Noah Samuelsen, AR-South Supply Officer, evaluated the application for regional use.
“We needed a digital solution that could improve efficiency across our entire workforce, including our partner contractors,” Samuelsen said. “ParaLine offers a secure, mobile-friendly platform to verify equipment and update records in real time, enhancing overall accountability.”
Since its rollout, ParaLine has improved inventory visibility for leaders across the battalion’s geographically dispersed Area of Responsibility.
“Our equipment is geographically dispersed throughout multiple sites with limited government oversight; ParaLine closes the gap, making our cyclics twice as efficient, “ said U.S. Army 1st. Lt. 1LT Anthony Ash, AR-South operations officer. “Normally it would take us several weeks to complete inventories, but now it can be accomplished within a week. ParaLine’s user interface is intuitive and friendly, leaving little to be desired.”
With more mobile-friendly options, the battalion has reduced administrative burdens, streamlined paperwork, and significantly accelerated hand receipt processing.
Instead of relying solely on traditional periodic inventories, the battalion can now maintain continuous audit readiness through proactive, real-time tracking.
“Implementing ParaLine at the (various) NEC logistics facilities has modernized warehouse operations, replacing error-prone manual spreadsheets with real-time barcode scanning,” said Mr. Samuel Vega, EMITS Logistics Manager. “This has helped us eliminate some overhead and discrepancies inherent to the manual part of tracking. With automating inventories, the platform delivers quicker synchronization between the team and improves my real-time asset visibility, ensuring mission-critical equipment is quickly accounted and staged for theater operations.”
Battalion leaders and logistics managers highlight the practical benefits ParaLine delivers to both military and civilian teams, underscoring its role in transforming property accountability across the battalion.
“The efficiency gains have been outstanding,” Samuelsen said. “We can manage equipment transfers more rapidly to meet mission demands while saving valuable time for both Soldiers and contractors.”
As the 2d Theater Signal Brigade continues its modernization push, the 509th SSB’s pilot of ParaLine represents a significant step forward in leveraging technology for smarter, more agile military logistics.
